Official release of Book on KGF - KOLAR GOLD FIELDS - DOWN MEMORY LANE
My book on KGF, entitled KOLAR GOLD FIELDS - DOWN MEMORY LANE was officially released by Mr. Kenneth Powell, on 26th October 2010, during the recently held Anglo-Indian Reunion - Jamboree 2010 at the Bangalore Palace Grounds
Hello Bridget, I just ordered your book. Pleased to see Kenneth Powell was a guest VIP at the Book launch. I'm looking forward to reading your book. Cheers! Derek Boosey
Dear Bridget, I have finished reading the book. Your simple and direct style is a great charmer. Your eye for detail is amazing. Your description of beauty in nature is matched by your description of beauty in human inter-actions. Your empathy for all people around you is very moving. Congratulations on a beautiful book.
It has taken 50 years for the country to forget the psychological wounds of empire and the Anglo-Indians have suffered prejudice during this time. Like the Parsis the country lost a large number of Anglo-Indians during this long period. Now the new generations are making those who remain feel at home and every one recognizes that they do indeed greatly enrich the mosaic that is India.
I am sure you have memories of what your father told you about his own times and also the times of his father (your grandfather) in Kolar. Perhaps, sooner rather than later, you might like to come up with a second volume with information, in your inimitable style, of the activities of the British during those times in Kolar! Warm regards, Ajit
